Glades Laverne (Liles) Lacy of Sunny Slope, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2018. She was born on September 9, 1922 in Drasco, Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Nora Ellen (Martin) Liles. Her husband of 48 years Odis Lacy. One brother Horton Liles and one sister Linda Logan.
Laverne is survived by 2 daughters Carol Bargery and husband Doyle of Thornton, Colorado and Cathy Hipp and husband Ronnie of Sunny Slope, Arkansas. Five grandchildren: Kevin Bargery, Shay (Bargery) Martin, Aaron Moorehead, Avery Moorehead and Kyle Hipp. Thirteen great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Laverne is also survived by her sisters Loretta Lacy of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, Glenda Fleming of Fennville, Michigan and Shirley Powers of Coloma, Michigan. Also many more family members and friends.
Laverne was a charter member of Chastain Chapel General Baptist Church but for the last few years attended Sunny Slope General Baptist Church. Where ever she went Laverne was known as a faithful prayer warrior and was truly loved by all. She led a life devoted to God, family and church. She was a loving wife, mother and to quote one grandchild (the best Grandma in the whole world). Laverne worked as a seamstress for over 50 years and loved to sew as long as she was able. After retiring she spent much of her time making dresses for all the young girls that she knew. All children were a joy to her and her to them. She loved to talk about her family and was always ready to tell you about them.
Laverne was a woman who loved the Lord and set a wonderful example to all. She will truly be missed.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, December 3, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Family Funeral Service and funeral services will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Chastain Chapel General Baptist Church at 2:00 P.M. with interment in Chastain Cemetery by Rev. Terry Mote and Rev. Dwight Decker.
