Mr. Hope was born in Cleveland, NC May 13, 1938, a son of the late Rufus Lee Hope and Margaret Vera Alexander Hope Hinson. He retired from Cone Mills- Carlisle Finishing Plant and was a member of the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Hope was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are two granddaughters: Selissa Melton of Lockhart and Nancy Harrison of Greenville; three sisters: Faye Scoggins, Linda Rochester both of York and Rose Bills of Stanley, NC; two brothers: Tommy Hope and Bob Hope both of York; two great-grandchildren: Brandon Parker and Gavyn Greogory and a great-great-grandchild, Aria Stewart. Mr. Hope was predeceased by a daughter, Cherri Ann Hope.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Sam Baine and Rev. Tommy Hope. Burial will be in the Lockhart Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Allan Horton, Logan Horton and Lee Brannon.
