She was raised in the Penn Hills area outside of Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Penn Hills High School, and Westminster College.

As a member of Hebron Church, she met the young intern pastor, Joseph Barr. They were united in marriage for more than 56 years. Together they served churches in Cedar Creek/Murray NE, Butler PA, Minden NE, Wymore/Barneston/Mission Creek NE, and Marysville/Frankfort KS.

She was preceded in death by parents C. Bennett and Blanche Duff, husband Rev. Joseph Barr, daughter Karen, and sisters Mary Edna, and Blanche.

She loved being with her immediate and extended family as well as her church families. Elizabeth cherished her time with her husband at the homestead that has been in the Barr family for more than 100 years. She enjoyed being a mom to her own children as well as "second mom" to others.

Elizabeth will be missed, especially her kind spirit, contagious laugh, and legendary hugs.
