Born: May 3, 1927 in rural Vandalia, the son of Oliver Lindsey Sherman and Jessie Francis (Winders) Fowler.
Married: Virginia Ann Fike on February 19, 1950 in Perry; she survives at the home.
Survivors include: wife, Virginia of Vandalia; one son, Gary C. Fowler (Leslie) of rural Vandalia; one daughter, Vickie A. Lewis of Huntsville; five grandchildren: Jared R. Lewis (Katie) of Lee Summit; Jamie L. Fowler (Heather) of Columbia; Lindsy A. Alexander (Mark) of Kansas City; Jason A. Lewis (Whitney) of Greenwood, Missouri; Kelsy L. Fowler of Vandalia; seven great-grandchildren: Ben, Vivi, Asa, Nora, Silas, August and Leah. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Amy Fike of Lowell, Arkansas.
Preceded in death by: parents; two brothers: Gilbert Wayne Fowler (Lois) and Donald L. Fowler (Margaret); mother and father-in-law, Hamilton and Willie Fike; brother-in-law, Lyndel Fike.
Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia.

Interment: the Vandalia Cemetery with full military honors.
