She married her husband, Robert Brooks, in Waukegan, IL in 1940.
Eleanor was an excellent typist and stenographer. She began her working career with Abbott Laboratories, and later moved to a secretarial position with the Civil Service, at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago, IL.
After retiring, she and Robert spent 28 years living in Florida during the winters. They moved to the Upper Peninsula in 2005.
She loved square dancing, cross-word puzzles, needlework, reading, and traveling (especially with the senior group).
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents;
her sister Marian (Lossman) Atterbery;
and her son, Robert Brooks.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of 70+ years of Wallace, Mich.; daughter, Bonnie Brooks and husband Lewis Peeples of El Paso, TX; grandson Ross Brooks of Milwaukee, Wis. and daughter-in-law Jill Brooks of Old Mll Creek, IL.
No services will be held for Eleanor.
