Paul Mize, 73, of Big Spring, died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Friday, January 5, 2018 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Tony Aguilar and Lloyd Wells, officiating. Burial with Fire Department Honor Guard will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
Paul was born September 16, 1944 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Arborette Tolbert Mize and Fred Forrest Mize.
He married Sue Lockhart on March 13, 1966 in Luther, Texas and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2008.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Air Force and came to Big Spring in 1964 while stationed at Webb Air Force Base.
He was an aircraft mechanic and served for 28 years.
He was affiliated with the Staked Plains 598 Lodge AF & AM for 25 years.
He retired in 1995 from the Big Spring Fire Department.
He also worked for an additional 15 years at the Big Spring State Hospital.
He was a member of Vincent Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons: Jason Mize and wife Krysha and Jeremy Mize and wife Vicki, all of Big Spring; one daughter: Melissa Mize of Big Spring; twelve grandchildren: Shawna Mize, Brent Riffe, Haley Mize, Wesley Mize, J.T. Mize, Austin Mize, C.J. Mize, Isaac Ortega, Ian Morelion, Isaiah Morelion, Valori Mize and J.C. Mize; two great grandsons: Ellis Mize and Raiden Mize.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Bill Mize, Tommy Mize and Bobby Mize.
Pallbearers will be James Dubose, Mike Mize, Cecil Cevallos, John Dorton, Chuck Guidry, J.T. Mize, Austin Mize and Wesley Mize. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Smith and Brent Riffe.
