Teresa Ann Houston was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 23, 1948, to Thomas and Jane (Robinson) McGruder. She was a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, at the time of her passing on December 29, 2017.

Teresa joins her parents; sister Bonnie E. Davis and brothers Lester O. Yancey Jr. and Thomas McGruder Jr., and her Mother-by-love, Ms Willa Patton, to rest in eternal peace.

Sis. Houston was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and graduated from Central Senior High School, Class of 1966. She later became a student of Brown Mackie College and received her degree as a Paralegal Science.

Teresa married twice in her lifetime. First to Mr. Timothy Estell at the age of eighteen and later to Mr. Edward Houston.

Teresa was a dedicated employee of Safeway, Food Barn, and Hyper-mart as a Meat Cutter. She was a proud member of the local Meat Cutters Union. After completing additional wducation, she began working for Rubins, Case, Rubins, Cambiano, and Byrant as a paralegal. She retired her working career at Credit Motors in 2012.

She accepted Christ at the age of nineteen at Greater Corinthian Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Raymond Davis Jr. She became the first church clerk, remaining in that position for ten years. She was a faithful choir member and was a member of These Are They Community Choir and The Sacred Singers. She had a love for young people which lead her to start the youth group Teens Loving Christ (TLC). She was also a member of Love Fellowship Church under the leadership of Reverend Willie Kelly and Gus Franklin. She was one of the founding members of Abundant Life Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Walker. At the time of her passing, she was a current member of the Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Benjamin Stephens, III.

Loving memories of Sister Teresa, such as being an encourager to everyone she could. Even using social media as "The Porch Lady" to share her wisdom. Sister Teresa will be missed and cherished by her son, of Kansas City, Missouri. Two daughters, living in of Fort Worth, Texas and of Lee’s Summit Missouri, respectively. Six grandchildren, her step father, a sister, and sister-in-law, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special children, and many best of friends.
