J. Kersbergen Answers Call

John Kersbergen, former resident of Pella, passed away at his home near Fairmount Monday morning at 2:30 o'clock, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 10 days.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Methodist church in Monroe, the pastor, Rev. R. R. Moser, officiating. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery, Pella.
Born in Holland on Nov. 16, 1865, Mr. Kersbergen came to America with his parents in 1884. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Kersbergen. The most of his life was spent in and near Monroe, although he lived in Pella several years, leaving here three years ago.
Mr Kersbergen was twice married, first, to Mary T'Lam in 1892. To this union was born a son, Gerrit. She died in 1902, and he married in 1904 Alice Sneller. Four children were born to this union, as follows: Alphonso, Neal, Alice and Alberta, who with Gerrit, the son by the first marriage, and the widow survive him. He also leaves one grandchild and three brothers, Peter, Neal and Bert, all of Pella.

John Kersbergen died at his home at Monroe on Monday morning, April 26, at 2:30 of a complication of diseases, aged 71 years, 5 months and 10 days.

The deceased leaves to survive him, his wife and five children, Garret, Alphonso, Neal, Alice and Alberta, and three brothers, Bert and Neal of this city and Peter of Perry.

The funeral services were held Wednesday, April 28, at 2:00 o'clock p.m. from the M.E. church at Monroe, Rev. Mosler officiating. The remains were brought to this city where interment took place at Oakwood cemetery.

John Kersbergen was born in November 16, 1866 in Holland, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. He lived in Fairview, Iowa, in 1920 and moved to Pella, Iowa, sometime between 1920 and 1925. His father, Gerrit, was 26 and his mother, Aafje, was 27. He married Mary T'Lam on February 21, 1895 and they had one son (Gerrit) together. He then married Aaltje Alice Sneller in 1904 and they had four children together. He died on April 26, 1937, in Pella, Iowa, at the age of 70, and was buried there.
