Betty Sue Southerland

Betty Sue Southerland, 75, of Union City went home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon, December 31, 2017, at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Independent Baptist Church. Brother Chip Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Obion.

Visitation will be held at Calvary Independent Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Gary Deason, Jeff Mathina, Charlie Baldridge, Carl Thomas Southerland, Jerry Southerland and Ron Costello.

Betty Sue was born August 7, 1942, in Lake County, daughter of the late Richard Thomas “Red” Choate and Georgie (Shanklin) Choate. She married Brother Charles Southerland May 28, 1960. He survives. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Sassafras Ridge Baptist Church.

She is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Mark Oseman of Union City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Julia Southerland and Bradley Southerland all of Union City and Gary and Danah Southerland of Obion; four grandchildren and the spouses of two, Chelsea and Billy Schwind of Memphis, Kaitlyn and Ethan Vaughn of Clarksville, Autumn Oseman of Woodland Mills and Ryan Southerland of Union City; one sister, Judy Clayton of Ridgely; four brothers, Tommy Choate of Obion, Larry Choate of Ridgely, Jimmy Choate of Tiptonville and Johnny Choate of Dyersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Sammy Mack Southerland.
