Graveside services for Rosa Maybelle Paxton Payne will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Cemetery.

Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Clifton Forge, Va., she was the daughter of the late J.W.M. and Merle Westerman Paxton.

She was a charter member of the Hopkinsville Junior Auxiliary and served as its president. She was in the League of Women Voters and the Readers Guild. In 1953 she was selected “First Lady of Hopkinsville” by Beta Sigma Phi. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville and at the Cadiz Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir. She was in the missionary society and in the medical auxiliary, as well as on the board of the Salvation Army. She was a member of a Baptist World Alliance medical mission. She was a member of the Pennyrile Rose Society and the Middle Tennessee Orchid Society.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Gabe Aubrey Payne.

Survivors include her daughters, Katherine (Jim) Morris, Roanoke, Va., Karolyn (Tom) Dey, Pagosa Springs, Colo. and Anne (Nick) Nicastro, Williamsburg, Va.; her brother, Fred Paxton, Clifton Forge, Va.; her sister, Charlotte Tyson, Cary, N.C.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
