Mrs. Brackin Dies Thursday

Mrs. Martha Ann Brackin, age 83, a resident of 709 West Montgomery, Sheffield, died Thursday at 10:55 a.m. at the residence after a three week illness.

She was a native of Lawrence County, but had lived in Colbert for the past 45 years. She had been a member of the Baptist Church since 1914.

Services are scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, Sheffield, with G. P. Prater and Allen Newby officiating. Burial will follow in Shaw Cemetery at Leighton with Brown Service in charge.

Surviving are four sons, W. N. Brackin, and Ben F. Brackin, both of Sheffield; Hurley and Harvey Brackin, both of Leighton; one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Gowers, Sheffield; 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

The body will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Gowers, 709 West Montgomery, where Mrs. Brackin had made her home for the past five years.

Active bearers will be Taskle Bailey, Raymond Draper, Paul Richey, James Davenport, Thomas Lester and Lifford Draper.

Honorary bearers will include elders of the Southside Baptist Church, Sheffield.
