John J. Slattery, Sr. of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away March 14, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born in Holyoke to Charles and Honora (Shea) Slattery. He was educated at Sacred Heart School and graduated from the former Holyoke Trade School. He served in the US Coast Guard and US Navy during WW II. His decades of work included many aspects of the electrical field. Prior to moving to Florida in 1970 he served as General Superintendent of the Department of Public Works in Holyoke. John was predeceased by his wife, Claire T. Geran and his son, John J. Slattery, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Christine A. Shea and son-in law, John E. Shea. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 12:15, St. Patrick's Chapel at St. Jerome's Parish, Holyoke, MA. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
