Betty Lou J. Parris, age 80, of Lower Alloway's Creek passed away Friday, December 29th at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County with her family by her side.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late W. Frank and Helen Myers Johnson of Salem. Betty Lou and her late husband, George bred and showed champion Great Danes, which were sold here and across Europe. They also owned and operated Gebet's Kennels in Hancock's Bridge for over 30 years. Betty was well respected as a judge and breeder. She judged dog shows throughout the United States and also judged at the Westminster Show in New York City. Betty Lou also worked in the physical therapy dept. at the Memorial Hospital of Salem County. Betty was a member of The Great Dane Club of PA, Gloucester County Kennel Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Eta Master Chapter of Salem, a member of the Hancock's Bridge United Methodist Church and she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Betty enjoyed being with her family, traveling and Friday night dinners with her widow's group.

Betty Lou is survived by her children, George Jr. (Pearl) of Elsinboro, Gwyn Atwell (Doug) of Alloway and Michael (Jill) of Mannington; grandchildren, Katie Parris Panetta (Dan), Jon Lantz, George Parris III (Tabatha), M. Samuel Parris (Erin), Allyson Parris (Collin), Chelsea Parris, Colleen Parris and Christopher Atwell; and five great grandchildren. Betty Lou is predeceased by her husband, George M. Parris, Sr.; her daughter, Nancy J. Parris; her grandson, Robert Lantz; and sister, Nancy Lawson.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3rd in WOODSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 34 Oak Street Salem where friends may call after 10:00 AM. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, January 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery, Salem. Woodside Funeral Home Salem/Quinton, NJ.
