Visitation for Dan was held Friday, Jan. 5 at Howard Funeral Home with a Masonic service starting at 6:00 p.m. A celebration of Dan's life was held Saturday, Jan. 6 at Howard Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Paris officiating. Inurnment will followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Daniel Clay Burnett was born Jan. 16, 1941 in Boonville, the son of Ancel Clay Burnett and Virginia E. Kelley.
He graduated Boonville High School in 1959.
He was married on Nov. 11, 1961 at the First Baptist Church in Boonville.
Dan was a First Class Merchant Marine Pilot licensed for 45 years and was in the Missouri River Rat Hall of Fame in Bellevue, Neb. Dan and Norma owned and operated Sun Transportation here in Boonville for 28 years.
He was a member of the Cooper Lodge #36 AF&AM and a member of the First Baptist Church. Dan loved his John Deere tractor; he mowed, played and removed snow for the neighbors in the winter time. Most of all his grandchildren were the love of his life, he loved each of them with a love only a grandpa could have.
He is survived by his wife, a son, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Bonnie Burnett.
