Scott Wayne Hayes, 53, of Waco passed away December 28, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Drive.

Scott was born on October 16, 1964 in Waco, Texas to Grant and Ann Hayes. He grew up in Speegleville and graduated from Midway High School in 1983. While in school, he was active in track and football. Throughout his adult life, Scott worked in telecommunications both locally and throughout the world and was an expert in his craft. He was also a skilled mechanic and welder who could picture something in his mind and create it with his hands. Scott's hobbies included hunting, fishing and being outdoors for just about anything, especially riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Scott never met a stranger, and would drop everything to help a friend he just met as quickly as one he had known forever. Scott was a member of Brookview Church of Christ in Waco. His love of family and friends was only eclipsed by his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and Maye Hayes and Cazzie and Marie Pierce.

Scott is survived by his parents, Grant and Ann Hayes; children, Christopher Hayes and wife, Nola, Cameron Hayes, and Danielle Hayes; siblings, David Hayes and wife, Christie, Shirley Hayes-Marsh, and Eric Hayes and wife, Inez; and numerous close friends.

The family would like to especially thank the staff at Baylor Scott & White McClinton Cancer Center, Hillcrest Community Hospice, and all of those friends that supported Scott and his family.
