Vaughn J. Smallwood, Sr., age 59 of Nebraska City passed away on Dec. 29, 2017 at Nebr. City Care and Rehab. Center in Nebr. City.
Vaughn Janes Smallwood, Sr. was born on Sept. 26, 1958 in Fairmont, WV; the son of George William and Aleatha May (Wolfe) Smallwood, Sr.
He attended school in Fairmont, WV and East Fairmont High School.
He married Chrystal Marie Hamlin in July of 1987 and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2004.
Vaughn was a truck driver for many years and most recently for Gateway Company until his health failed.
He is survived by three children: Vaughn Janes Smallwood, Jr. and wife Ashley of Fremont, NE, Joseph William Smallwood and wife Chelsea of Fremont and Staci Jaynes Smallwood of Nebr. City, four grandchildren: Hayden Payne, Zoey Smallwood, Myah Smallwood and Chloey Johnson; a brother Aaron B. Smallwood of Kernesville, NC; sisters in law: Sharon Berwick of Nebr. City and Joanne Tesdahl of Boone, IA; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his wife Chrystal, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: George William Smallwood, Jr., Phyllis May Neal, and Linda Darlene Neal.
Memorial services will be held Thursday; Jan. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
