DRACUT - Mary Ellen (McNulty) Ackley, 67, died peacefully Saturday evening, December 23rd, at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Lee Ackley for 43 years.
Mary Ellen was born in Lowell, the daughter of the late Grace (Murphy) McNulty and Paul McNulty. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and University of Lowell's Nursing Program.
Mary Ellen was an incredibly giving person who devoted herself to her family, friends and work. She worked for the Bedford VA Hospital, for 34 years before retiring in 2011. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She was adored by her four grandchildren whom she enjoyed spoiling.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her two children Brian Ackley and his wife LaShanta of Dracut; Elizabeth Parkinson and her husband Mark of Littleton; her four grandchildren Liam, Mackenzie, Miles and Molly. She also leaves her brother Paul McNulty and his wife Kate of Orleans; her sister Anne Bryant and her husband Matt of Amesbury; her sister Judy Landry and her husband Henry of Dracut; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
ACKLEY - Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, December 29th, from 4-7PM, in the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9AM, with her funeral mass to follow at St. Marguerite D'Youville Church, Lakeview Ave., Dracut, Saturday, December 30th, at 10AM. Committal prayers at Lowell Cemetery Chapel, with a spring burial at Oakland Cemetery, Dracut.
