Born Tad Douglas Nolen in Los Angeles, Glide entered the business out of Huntington Beach in 1995 and quickly earned a rep for having "one of the thickest penises in the porn industry," as our Orange County roundup by Gustavo Arellano, Brandon Ferguson and Shuji Sakai pointed out.
Glide's final performance was in Axel Braun's porn parody X-Men XXX, which paid tribute to the actor in a title card. Glide was helping a friend move in Huntington Beach in May when he was bitten by a pet snake. Alana Evans, a friend and fellow porn performer who is also being inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame next month, told reporters who cover the adult industry that she had heard Glide refused to get treatment and died from the bite.
Some Glide bios still list snake bite as the cause of death and Huntington Beach as the place where he expired. While Glide was indeed bitten by a snake days before, the Los Angeles County coroner confirms that the 43-year-old died at his residence in that county on May 24 of accidental ethanol intoxication. The coroner noted that an enlarged heart and fatty liver were "other significant causes."
Ethanol intoxication can occur from consuming alcoholic drinks, mouthwash, perfume, cologne, cooking extracts and over-the-counter medications, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
