Sedalia Democrat, 20 March 1921: Mrs. Hattie G. Porter, widow of the late Thomas E. Porter, died at 11:45 o'clock Friday night at the home of her cousins, Misses Elma and Florence White, at Smithton, where she had been visiting since last Tuesday. Death was due to heart trouble and was enitrely unexpected, as Mrs. Porter had only been ill a few days. Mrs. Porter died on the fifty-eighth anniversary of her wedding. Born in Kentucky, August 16, 1845, Mrs. Porter, whose maiden name was Hattie G. Conkwright, came to Missouri at the age of twelve years, with her parents, the late John and Sally Conkwright. They located in the Beaman neighborhood, and Mrs. Porter had lived the remainder of her life in that vicinity. For the past fifty-eight years, or during her entire married life she had lived on the Porter home in the Salem neighborhood. Her son, Albert E. Porter died in this city two weeks ago.
