Garrett "Ryan" Brown, 37, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, in Onawa.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, with Pastor Shari Schwedhelm and Pastor Carla Johnsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Garrett Ryan Brown was born on December 18, 1980, in Harlan, Iowa, the son of

Gary Brown and Patricia (Pratt) Parks. He attended East Monona Community Schools, and graduated from Boyer Valley High School in Dunlap.

He worked in carpentry. He enjoyed sports, especially golf, football, and basketball. He also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku puzzles. Most of all, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Ryan was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Larry Parks of Onawa, IA; his father, Gary Brown of Kirkman, IA; maternal grandmother, Jeanne Pratt of Moorhead, IA; step-grandmother, Marjorie Parks of Whiting, IA; one stepsister and her husband, Alesha and Karl Paulsen of Moville, IA; one stepbrother, Wayne Parks of Onawa, IA; his very special nieces, Ava and Addy Paulsen; his very special nephews, Kameron and Kale Paulsen; two special girls, Jamie and Brylie Domer; canine best friend, his golden retriever Copper; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Boyd "Bud" Pratt; paternal grandparents, Merlyn and Viola Brown; step-grandfather, Wayne Parks; two aunts, Pam "Nanny" Pratt and Cheryl Lavely; and two uncles, Shawn Gosch and James Blok.
