COWDERY WILLIAM HENRY 'HANK', suddenly on June 4, 2008, age 82. Loving husband of Jean (nee Franklin). Devoted dad of Sandi Hale, Ariminta (Mincy) Branch and her husband Gerald, Renee Toran and her husband Rudy. Dear grandfather of Jean Michele, Jason, Chad, Leslie, Jeremey, Sarah, Reuben and Jared. Great grandfather of 6. Dear brother of Bernard and his wife Madeline. Siblings Bea, Joe, Frank, Walt, Blanche and Esther preceded him. Survived by brother-in-law Dr. Walter Lomax Jr. and his wife Beverly, Walter (Jimmie) Franklin and his wife Jean, Thomas Robinson, Paul Grayson and his wife Shirley, sisters-in-law Gertrude Wilkie and Jennie Robinson, Sarah Mae Smith and her husband Rodolfo, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was born in North Phila. to the late noted caterer William Augusta Cowdery and the former Bertha Whitehead. He served as a WWII Navy Veteran on the USS LST 569 and received several war medals. He retired from John Wanamaker's Dept. Store, Center City, after 39 years in Sales.

Private arrangements by WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 215-748-4470. A lite memorial luncheon will be held Tues., June 10, 2008, 2 P.M. at Festivals Restaurant, 5222 Walnut St., 2nd Fl., Phila., PA for invited family and friends, courtesy of the family. A separate memorial luncheon will be held at a later date upon interment of his remains at the Culpeper, VA National Cemetery.
