Joyce married Leland "Sam" E. Morrison at the Middle Creek Presbyterian Church on November 30, 1957. She taught school in Winnebago and worked in the office of W.F. and John Barnes Company in Rockford until she and Sam built the Dog n Suds Drive In in Byron in 1966. In 1975, they changed the name to Sam's Drive In, which they ran until 1990 when their son David and his wife took over. Joyce attended Middle Creek Presbyterian Church and was a 75 year member. She enjoyed being a member of two car clubs, antiquing, playing cards with family and friends, wintering in Haines City, FL for 12 years, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Sam Morrison of Byron, and four Morrison grandchildren - Tim (Jen) of Plainfield, IL, Chris (Megan) of Vienna, MD, Nick (Mikayla) of Winnebago, IL, and Ellen (Andrew) Touchette of Fairfax, VA as well as four great-grandchildren - Parker, Preston, Grace, and Dakota Morrison and daughter-in-law, Karin (Morrison) Winquist of Winnebago. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law - Joan Hackett of Rockford, IL, Shirley Morrison Houle of Thompson, CT, Shawn (Jan) Morrison of Rockford, IL, Carla (Joe) Fiorello of Sebring, FL, Becky Morrison Little, and Phil Morrison Jr. both of Byron, IL. She is also loved by many nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her son David Morrison, sister-in-law and brother-in-law - Nellene (Charles) Jeter, Fred Hackett.
Her family would especially like to thank her loving caregivers for taking such wonderful care of her.
Her visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with her service at 1:00 p.m. all on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, 12473 Montague Rd, Winnebago, IL with interment in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice and Home.
