Herman Anaya Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Tajique, NM, on Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
Herman was born and raised in Tajique and a pillar of his community.
Herman has been a lifelong resident of Tajique where he and his loving wife, Amadita of 54 years of marriage raised a family. Herman was a member of the San Antoinio Catholic Church and a devout member of the Democratic Party.
Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Amadita G. Anaya, parents, Juan and Marcofla Anaya, daughter, Baby Jeanette Anaya, brothers, Diego Sánchez and Olivero Anaya and sisters, Irene Vigil, Mary Hidalgo and Leandrita Lance.
Herman is survived by his daughters, Jeanette Barela, Lorraine Perea and Polly Conant, sons, Herman Anaya Jr., Martín Anaya and Larry Anaya, brother, Biterbo Anaya and his wife, Peggy, sisters, Rosie Urban and her husband, Manuel and Delora Barela and her husband, Victor, sisters-in-law, Islinda Sánchez, Rita Sedillo and her husband, Nick and Frances Herrera and her husband, Ignacio, brother-in-law, Mariano García and his wife, Onila, 13 grandchildren, Juan, Leanette, Leandrito and Jacob Barela, Sarah Perea, Julio, Sophia and Veronica Anaya, Hailey and Marcus Anaya and Moises Fidel, Alicia and Olivia Anaya, 27 great-grandchildren and many nephew and nieces.
Services will be held at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia, NM. Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Tajique Catholic Church Cemetery in Tajique, NM. Pallbearers will be Jacob Barela, Moises Fidel Anaya, Julio Anaya, Jerry Montoya, Rudy Lesperance and Joseph David Hidalgo. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
