Miller , Gabrielle
Jan. 31, 1926 - Dec. 22, 2017
Gabrielle Gottlieb Miller, beloved mother of four children, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, died peacefully in her sleep in Santa, Fe, New Mexico, with her daughters, Marguerite and Elizabeth, by her bedside. She was 91.
Gabrielle, a WWII refugee who raised her family in Westchester County, N.Y., retired to Sarasota, Florida, with her husband, the late Earle I. Miller, after finishing a productive career as a high school remedial English teacher.
For over 30 years, Gabrielle filled her life in retirement with friends at her home that overlooked the Gulf of Mexico, friends from synagogue, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and visiting family in Switzerland every summer until she was unable to make the trip due to health.
For the last three years, Gabrielle valiantly refused to give in to Alzheimer's and insisted until nearly the end of her life on Dec. 22, that she was going to get better. She will always be a blessing and a model of how to comport oneself to the many who admired her.
Born on Jan. 31, 1926, Gabrielle survived her first husband, William Lasker Rosensohn, and her second husband, Earle I. Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Marguerite R. Farber, of Santa Fe, N.M., and Elizabeth R. Harris, of Albuquerque, N.M., and her sons, Daniel L. Rosensohn, of Charleston, S.C., and Samuel J. Rosensohn, of Essex, Conn. Gabrielle is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Tricia Cazenove, Elizabeth Rogers, Nicole Vigil, the late Clayton William Huff, Emily Harris-Martinez, Melissa Harris, Zachary and Trevor Rosensohn, as well as four greatgrandchildren: Zada and Atticus Harris-Martinez and Georgia and Daisy Rogers. Gabrielle will be missed by her sons-in-law David Harris and Steven Farber, and her daughters-in-law, Pam Rosensohn and Ann Louise Rosensohn, her nephew and niece, Thomas Blumenthal and Sandra Kheligeni as well as Sylvia Farber and Ted Vigil.
There will be a graveside funeral for Gabrielle adjacent to Palms-Robarts Funeral Home in Sarasota, Fl., on Dec. 27, 2017. The service begins at 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Beth Israel's Library Fund, Longboat Key, Fl., where Gabrielle volunteered. The family would like to thank the loving caregivers of Kingston and Ambercare Hospice, Santa Fe, N.M.
