William "Bill" Russell Bland, Jr., 87, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on December 25, 2017 surrounded by family.



Bill was preceded in death by his mother, G. Eileen Wrinkle and his father, Russel (Linda) Bland.



Survivors include his sons, Mike (Terree) Bland and Scott (Renee) Bland; daughters, Janet Pestock and Barbie DeLuca; sister, Barbara (Frank) Morales; brothers, Charles (Kelly) Bland and Allan Wrinkle; grandchildren, Jason, Bobby, Kristy, Michael, Brice, Emma and Claire; great grandchildren, Jordan, Morgan, AnnaLina, Lilly, Isabella, Lilianna and Sebastian, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.



Bill was born February 1, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Manual High School in Kansas City, Missouri and received his diploma from Winnetonka High School. He achieved many goals and accomplishments in life all while being blind. Bill owned and operated a debt collection agency (General Account Service Inc.) in North Kansas City for over 50 years. He served as the Missouri Collectors Association Treasurer and President, member of Rotary and Blind Athletes Association, as well as many other charitable organizations in Missouri. Bill had a passion for weight lifting/bodybuilding, and a lover of music (both listening and playing the sax), listening to the Chiefs, Royals, and audio book “Louis L’Amour”, movies “John Wayne”, storyteller of the past with family and friends, KC style BBQ (Smokehouse), Italian dishes (Cascone’s) were among his favorites. Bill lived a long, fulfilling, and accomplished life with family, friends, and coworkers.



A Celebration of Life will be 11 AM Friday December 29, 2017 at White Chapel Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Blind Athletes Association.
