In 1910, Martin's spinster sister Maria passed away in Germany and left "a small fortune" to his three daughters. Before the money could be awarded to them, Jane Rigger Sholes had to be found and reunited with her sisters. Through the efforts of a local Catholic nun, Jane/Jennie was found and the sisters were reunited in Rochester on 12 March 1910. It was then that Jane Rigger learned who her biological father was. The event was recounted in the Star-Gazette, Elmira, NY, p 7, on that day.
