Danny Ray Buchanan, 59 of North Tazewell, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 following a brief illness. Born in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of Lacie Marchant Buchanan and the late Ambrouse Buchanan. Danny was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and friend. He had worked for Tazewell County School as a dedicated bus driver for 37 years and also worked for Mefcor Mining Company for the past 14 years. Danny was a hard worker and enjoyed music and loved life. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother: Samuel Wesley Buchanan and a sister: Sally Gail Lawson.
He will be lovingly and affectionately missed by his mother: Lacie Buchanan of Bluefield, VA; his wife of 33 years: Melissa Lawson Buchanan; daughter: Michelle Buchanan and fiancé, Kyle Hanna of Springville, VA; sister: Rose May Buchanan of Bluefield, WV; nieces and nephews: Mark Lawson of Ravenswood, WV, James Lawson and Sarah Lawson of North Tazewell, William Powers and Christopher Powers of NC; and his loveable dog: Baby.
A service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Preacher Daniel Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.
