Born to a farmer, he lived as a farmer, up til the Lord called him back. "Boot", as he was known by in the family, was a soldier during WWII and survived the beaches of Normandy, during the invasion on June 6, 1944. He recalled losing his best bud during that time but otherwise rarely spoke of the tribulations he faced. One that he didn't mind as much was the love of his life, Ms. Frances, who was also working in the Army during his stint.
He married Frances Elizabeth Johnson on April 27, 1946 and together they had 4 children, 3 boys, and one girl. He was an active member and leader of Walker's Presbyterian Church, and a loving father, and grandfather. While like all people, he had his moments, he was an overall interesting and colorful personality.
