Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in the Historical Center in Winterset on Thursday, December 28 at 10:30a.m. with burial following at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Hall in Winterset on Saturday, January 6 from 2:00-5:00
Ronald James Forgy, son of Cameron and Dorothy (Ness) Forgy was born May 4, 1941 in Belmond, Iowa.
He graduated from Clarion High School in 1959 and joined the Army in February , 1961. He served in Germany for two years and was dismissed from Camp Stewart, Georgia in 1964.
Three sons were born to Ron’s marriage in 1962 to Jackie (Mc Cone) Forgy. His life centered around his boys and the sports they competed in. He loved all sports but mostly baseball, calf roping and golf. He enjoyed coaching Little League for his sons, grandsons and granddaughter.
Ron wore many hats through the years but remained mostly a farmer and cowboy at heart while he worked as a carpenter and retired from Des Moines General Hospital as Director of Facilities Management and Engineering in 1997.
Ron is survived by his wife, Jackie, and sons, Brett of Winterset, Brian (Shanna) of DeSoto, and Ben (Maria) of Winterset and Grandchildren Austin, Alex, Tyanna, Callie and Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles.
As much as he loved his family, he always had time for friends and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed.
