Mr. Jessie R."Sonny" Morgan, Jr., 81, of Metter passed away Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017 at Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Morgan was born March 1, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Jessie R. Morgan, Sr. and Edith Tansley Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mary F."PUP" Morgan of Metter; son, Sonny Morgan (Barbie) of Swainsboro; daughters, Phyllis Anderson (James E.) of Reidsville, and Penny Morgan of Metter; grandchildren, Kelcie Marie Anderson, Agie Elizabeth Anderson, Ben Anderson (Ariel), Allie Elaine Anderson, Jessie R. Morgan, IV., Blythe Morgan, and Dawda Njie Morgan; great-granddaughter, Macie Elaine Anderson; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be at Metter Primitive Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 with Elders Richard Davis and Mike Newman officiating. Mr. Morgan will lie in state one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Aline.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Metter Primitive Baptist Church.
