Robert attended Hagerstown High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Robert previously worked at Fairchild and retired from Mack Trucks, in 1987. He was owner-operator of Bowers Electric. Robert was a member of Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown, Morris Frock American Legion Post 42, AMVETS Post 10, Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84, Eagles 1299 in Carlisle, Pa., and Beaver Creek Country Club, and a retired member of UAW Mack Local 171. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie C. Bowers.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Frances H. Bowers; and two brothers, Charles H. Bowers Jr. and William H. Bowers.
Funeral services will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Military honors provided by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

Surviving are: wife, Meda; sons, Charles, Jr., Spring City, Pa.; Robert, at home; William, Baltimore; and Frank, this city; sisters, Mrs. Carrie Wearich, Ephrate, Pa.; Mrs. Alice Langley, Seat Pleasant, Md.; and Mrs. Anna Youngerman, Washington, DC; brothers, George E. Bowers and Mars P. Bowers, both of this city.
Funeral services were held at Kraiss Mortualry Chapel. Interment in National Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
