Hazel Virginia Terry, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Abingdon Health and Rehab.

She was born February 27, 1936, in Saltville, Va., to the late Garland Carbary and Maggie Moore Carbary. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Terry; one sister, Shirley Owens and one brother, Jim Carbary.

Hazel was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va., and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid flower gardener, and a wonderful homemaker and cook. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed working word puzzles.

Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Widner; Patricia Brown and husband, David; Brenda Musick and husband, Randy; Karen Kestner and husband, Toby and Melissa Mullins and husband, David; seven grandchildren, Brad Widner, Eric Widner, Amanda Musick Hale, Ashley Kestner Hale, Virginia “Jenni” Kestner, Brandon Kestner and Katelyn “Katie” Salyer; five great grandchildren, Lucas Widner, Lacie Widner, Max Hale, Jacob Smith, Everly Salyer and one on-the-way, Reezyn Hale; four sisters, Cora Terry, Peggy Warren, Margaret Ward and husband, Lloyd and Alma Parcell and husband, James; one brother, Kenneth Carbary and wife, Judy; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to recognize those that provided special care to Hazel including her caregivers, Abby Lester, Malissa Mullins, Cindy Fields and Crystal as well as Russell County (MSHA) Hospice.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Bob McCormick officiating. Committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to gather at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Brad Widner, Eric Widner, Matt Salyer, Les Hale, William Hale III, and Kelsey Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Kestner, Darrius Carbary, Melvin “Poncho” Tuggle, Don Carbary and Bob Carbary.

Flowers are appreciated or memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.

The family will be gathering at the home of Melissa Mullins where friends may visit at any time.
