He was born November 25, 1927 in Cabarrus County to late Hosby Caldwell and the late Maggie Mae Lewis Caldwell.
Fred was educated in the Cabarrus County School System and was a Self-employed Brick Mason. He was a member of Gilmore Chapel AME Zion Church.
Services will be held at Gilmore Chapel AME Zion Church on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Burial will follow at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to his parents she was preceded in death by his wife, Pinky Moss Caldwell; two daughters, Judy C. Whitley and Doris J. Craig; his siblings, Lillie M. Canter, Grover Caldwell, James Otis Caldwell and Harold L. Caldwell.
Those left to cherish his memories include: four daughters; Luvenia C. Johnson (John), Jean E. Caldwell, Myra C. Alsbrooks (Erick), Tammy L. Caldwell all of Concord; nine sons, Fred S. Caldwell, Sr. (Sue) of NJ, Lance Bernard Caldwell, Norris D. Caldwell (Rev. Josie), Victor F. Caldwell, Sr. all of Concord, Rev. Tracy D. Caldwell, Sr. (Teresa), Felton Caldwell both of Kannapolis, Larry D. Caldwell (Evette), Terrance J. Caldwell both of Charlotte and Herbert W. Caldwell of Gretna, VA; 46 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Vernon Pharr of Concord and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
