Schmalberger, Donald Ph.D. ALBANY Donald C. Schmalberger Ph.D., 91, entered eternal life Monday, November 13, 2017. Born in Union City, N.J. he was the son of Adolph and Christina Frueh Schmalberger. Dr. Schmalberger was a U.S. Army Korean veteran. He earned his doctorate degree in astro-physics from Indiana University. He went on to teach at UAlbany, University of Rochester, and retired as a Professor from The Albany Academy, Albany. He was a member of the American Astronomical Society, and enjoyed academic research, reading and watching football. Dr. Schmalberger was predeceased by his beloved wife in 2015, Andree M. Luquet Schmalberger; brother of the late Lily Sundman, Helen Ising, Gloria, David and William Schmalberger; many nieces and nephews survive. Dr. Schalberger will be buried next to his wife in the Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, N.J.
