Gustina was born at Roednitz, Sachsen-Altenburg, Prussia (likely the town now known as Reudnitz) and was first married to Andreas Leitsch; they had one known child (Augusta, born 1849). In 1853 in Texas, Gustina married again to Michael Heimer, and they had at least 6 children. Her death date is uncertain, but believed to be in the period of 1879-1880. Inscription
The name "Schmidt" engraved on her stone is thought to be in error (this was the married name of her daughter Augusta).
Gravesite Details
Gustina's gravestone (& that of her husband) were restored in about 1989. It is assumed that the restored stone used info as found on the previous stone (now gone), although recent research indicates some errors may be present on both stones.
