Janet Parker Sorensen, 85, mother and grandmother extraordinaire, was called home Wednesday, December 20, 2017. She has been reunited with her eternal companion Lincoln and other loving family members and friends.

Mom was ever the optimist, full of life and love for everyone who crossed her path. She found beauty in all around her. Every day was a gift to be savored. A lover of nature, mountains and everything green. She enjoyed skiing, hiking, gardening, bare branch trees and just about anything outdoors.

Her cabin at Bear Lake was a treasured oasis where she enjoyed the peace and serenity of God's creations which she was eager to share with family and friends. Cherished cabin memories abound in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.

Mother was a graduate of Jordan High and Brigham Young University, a beauty queen (Miss Draper) and a beloved pre-school and kindergarten teacher, teaching for many years at Plain City Elementary.

She was active in her church, serving in many capacities. Her most beloved calling as Weber College Stake Relief Society President serving alongside her brother, Gerald, who was Stake President. She and Dad served two missions on Temple Square, and another in Auckland, New Zealand.

Janet is survived by six children: Mark (Christina) Sorensen, Kristen (Corey) Bell, Shauna (James) Beames, Gregg (Julie) Sorensen, Todd (Debbie) Sorensen and Jennifer (Rob) Jones; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters: Peggy Miller, Kathy Stevens and Colette Malan; and brother, Russell Parker.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Clayton and Irene Parker; and brother, Gerald Parker.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coldwater LDS Stake Center, 770 E 2100 N, North Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
