At his home, 210 Spring Street, at 9:35 o'clock Sunday morning, occurred the death of Winfield H. Benson, aged 66. He was sitting in a chair enjoying a smoke when he was stricken with heart trouble and fell to the floor dead. Dr. H. J. Teller was summoned and pronounced the cause of death as heart disease. Mr. Benson had not been in the best of health for some time, although he was able to work every day.
He was born in Otselic in October 1853.
In Deruyter in October 1898, he was married to Miss Jennie Cooley, who is the only survivor.
Mr. and Mrs. Benson came to Rome seven years ago and since that time be had been employed in the box shop of the Rome Brass & Copper Company. He attended the Free Methodist Church. Rome Daily Sentinel, Monday April 28, 1919
