CURTIS CARTER

September 9, 1939 ~ December 22, 2017 (age 78)


Curtis Hubert Carter, age 78 of Garvin, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Baylor, Scott and White Hospital in Plano, Texas.


Curtis was born September 9, 1939 in Garvin, Oklahoma, the son of the late Hubert Carter and Irene Harris Carter.


Curtis was a lifelong resident of Garvin and was owner and operator of Carter's Trucking and Equipment in Idabel, Oklahoma.


Curtis proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Idabel Masonic Lodge and was affiliated with the Mt. Zion Church of God in Millerton, Oklahoma.


Curtis loved to travel and meet new people, he never met a stranger. He was a very giving man, always there to help others. Curtis enjoyed dancing, going to auctions and spending time with family and friends.


Curtis was preceded in death by his wife Norma on October 14, 2016; two grandsons, Cody Carter and Kyle Bacon; brother, Joe Carter and sister, Imogene Carter.


His memory will be forever cherished by his children, David Carter and wife Kathy, Michael Carter and wife Julie all of Garvin, Oklahoma and Randa Warren and husband Greg of DeKalb, Texas;


grandchildren, Ashley Bacon of Houston, Texas, Aterra Bolejack and husband Casey of DeKalb, Texas, Wayne Carter of DeKalb, Texas, James Carter of Garvin, Oklahoma, VerRanda Taylor and husband Dustin of DeKalb, Texas and Casey Carter of Bogata, Texas; 7 great grandchildren;


Brothers Kenneth Carter and wife Bobbie of Garvin, Oklahoma and Lewis Carter and wife Patti of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Margaret Graham and husband Bobby of Garvin, Oklahoma and Dorothy Killian of Honey Grove, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.


A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Forest Hill Baptist Church in the Forest Grove Community with the Bro. Scott Stuart officiating.


Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

**My friends-the Carter family: I just learned that Curtis passed away. I'm housebound due recent surgery and would not have been able to attend his funeral this morning. I've always held Curtis in Hugh respect and counted him a friend. Please accept my sympathy for your loss.
