Kathryn Pauline Baker, 95, of Decatur, IL passed away at 6:31 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Kathryn’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Decatur Humane Society.

Kathryn was born on October 12, 1922 in Monticello, IL, the daughter of Smith and Veva L. (Bridges) Fitzwater. She married Cletus Baker in June of 1940. He preceded her in death in October of 1972. Kathryn retired from Caterpillar Co. cafeteria after 12 years of service. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith. Kathryn enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles, quilting and camping with her family.

Kathryn is survived by her children: Carolyn A. (Warren) Wright of Big Fork, MN, Beverly A. DeChaney of Morton, IL, Kenneth R. (Lynn) Baker of Aldrich, MO and Bruce A. (Pamela) Baker of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Kelli DeChaney and her significant other Don of Washington, IL, Laura (Cory) Daugherty of Blue Mound, IL, Travis (Dara) Baker of Decatur, IL and Angela (Don) Gregerson of Big Fork, MN; great grandchildren: Dylan Daugherty, Alana Baker, Paige DeChaney and Justin DeChaney; sister: Veva P. Joynt of Port Orchard, WA;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Smith Fitzwater Jr., sister: Thelma McClary, grandson: Shawn DeChaney and her granddaughter: Stephanie Baker.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and many caregivers that gave Kathryn comfort and love.
