A Home-going Celebration will be held for Mr. Joseph “Bro” Lyons 79 at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Mount Olive Baptist Church No. 1 with Rev. Lester Simon, Jr., Pastor & officiant.
He will await the resurrection at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery No. 1 in Freetown, LA.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 7:00 A.M until 7:30 A.M Saturday at the funeral home and will resume at 8:00 A.M. Saturday at the church until time of service.
A native and resident of New Iberia, LA, he passed at 9:15 A.M. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at his residence following a brief illness.
He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church No. 1 where he served as an usher. In addition, he was previously employed at Wormer’s Department Store and Kroger’s. Lastly, he was employed by the Iberia Parish School Board as a Maintenance Engineer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Annie Bell Brooks Lyons of New Iberia, LA; two daughters, Janice (Lawrence) Demouchet and Lori Lyons of New Iberia, LA; one son, Luke B. Lyons of San Francisco, CA, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lyons, Sr. and Louisiana Charles Lyons; one brother, David Lyons, Sr.; one sister, Clara Mae Lyons Polk and one grandson, Diontae Lyons.
Active pallbearers will be Joseph Anthony, Jovan White, Ricky Delahoussaye, Gerald Collins, Jeremy Collins and Master Lewellyn Johnson.
