Margaret Florence Shaffer, 88, formerly of Daugherty St., Brookville, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Brookside Assisted Living in Brookville.

She was born April 21, 1929 at home in Burkett Hollow, Punxsutawney, PA the daughter of Fredrick Burkett and Verda Wachob Burkett, and was married to Robert M. Shaffer who preceded her in death on April 29, 2005.

Margaret was a homemaker, worked for Sylvania in Brookville in 1961,and later for the Brookville Glove Factory.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookville, was an avid golfer, enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, and loved to play cards, a member of numerous card clubs here in town. She also always enjoyed playing bingo at the Heritage House in Brookville.

Margaret is survived by: 1 son, Gary Shaffer (wife Sandy) of Ft. Myers, Fla., 3 daughters, Karen Shaffer of Brookville, Denise Kluchurasky (husband Louis) of Indiana, PA, and Lori Koltenuk (husband Larry) of Danville, PA. 2 brothers, James Burkett (wife Coleen) and Delmas Burkett (wife Patty) both of Punxsutawney, 3 sisters, Judy Burns (husband Roger) of Philadelphia, PA, Patty Lundy of Reynoldsville, PA, and Vickie Jefferys (husband Homer) of Punxsutawney, PA., 9 grandchildren, Ricky Light, Jeffery Roberts, Kenny and Alec Shaffer, Alisha Miller, Jonathan Barr, Noah Koltenuk, Chelsea and Garret Fensetamaker, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Roy and Boyd Burkett and 1 sister, Francie McManigle.

Out of respect for Margaret's wishes, private services were held by the family with internment taking place at the St. John's Cemetery (Windy Hill), Rose Township, Jefferson County.

Memorial donations may be made to Brookside Assisted Living, 49 Brookside Lane, Brookville, PA 15825.

Arrangements were under the care of the Peterson Funeral Home, 153 Jefferson St., Brookville.
