BM2 US NAVY WORLD WAR II

Frank P. Abbott was born on February 19, 1924 in Montclair, New Jersey. He passed away peacefully at Hospice Center on January 2, 2010.

Frank served in the United States Navy during World War II surviving the bombing and sinking of the Yorktown CV5 and the West Virginia. He received many distinguished service awards and medals including his cherished 'Purple Heart'.

With his Navy career behind him, but never forgotten, Frank then owned and operated a hardwood flooring family business for several decades in New Jersey. His health then retired him to the warmer weather of Florida where he could again pursue and enjoy his love for the water and boating.

Frank has always been lucky enough to be surrounded by his children who all live in close proximity and were able to share in many family gatherings and celebrations.

Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years Leora Abbott. He has two daughters, Susanne (Richie) and Connie. He has two sons, Barry (Kathy) and John (Dawn). Frank was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Theresa, Ricky, Timmy (deceased), Carrie Ann, Michael, Barry, Dana, Chad, and Chase, along with 17 great grand children. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his sister Joan Kuhaz and his two devoted puppy dogs, Angel and Happy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the chapel of Eternity Funeral Home, 4856 Oakdale Ave. Military honors will be conferred honoring Frank P. Abbott 's service to our country.
