HOOPESTON - James "Jimbo" Leslie Bunting, age 41, died at 8:20 p.m. December 20, 2017, at his home in Hoopeston, Ill., surrounded by his family and friends after a short battle with cancer.

Jim was born on November 10, 1976, in Presidio, Calif., to Leslie "Les" Bunting and Marilyn Edwina (McGee) Bunting.

Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Edwina Bunting (Lisa A. Capps) of Spring Hill, Tenn.; one brother, Sam Bunting of DeKalb, Ill.; his paternal grandparents, Danny and Jean Bunting of Danville; two aunts, Carla Bailey of Danville and Sheila (Steve) Allen of Spring Hill, Tenn.; one uncle, Robert Hardin of Spring Hill, Tenn.; 12 cousins, Brian Darnell, Eddie Martinie (Wendy), Davina (Nina) Holloway, Dee "Sis" Bradford (Mark), Brady McGee, Katie McGee, Fookwa McGee, Haven McGee, Heaven Bailey, Hope Bailey, Glorie Bailey, Grace Bailey; his girlfriend, Carla Nunez; as well as his cat, "Kitty," and many other close family members and friends.

James is preceded in death by his father, Leslie "Les" Bunting; one sister, Jessica Lynn "Teenie" Bunting; his paternal great-grandmother, Ann McDonald; his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Marilyn McGee; one aunt, Debbie Martinie-Hardin; two uncles, Ronnie McGee and Randy Bunting; two cousins, Lonnie Fuqua and Hunter McGee; as well as his loyal friend, Elioenau "Eli" Caballero.

Jim had been employed for the past five years with Schumacher Electric Corporation in Hoopeston as an electronic technician. He also was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Jim loved his family and friends; music with Tool and Pink Floyd to name a few bands; the State of Arizona; the mountains; and politics. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and a movie buff. He was also an amazing artist and enjoyed taking scenic photographs. He will be deeply missed by us all.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 23, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Andrew Harkleroad will officiate. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, December 23, at the funeral home. As per James wishes cremation rites will be accorded and inurnment will be at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park.
