Survived by her sisters in religion; a brother and his wife; 3 sisters; a sister-in-law; nieces, nephews and many friends.
When she was 3 yrs old she suffered permanent loss of sight in her left eye
Graduated from Shelburne High School and entered the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph community in Winooski in June, 1948. She received her RN nursing education at Fanny Allen Hospital, at Boston College (her BSN), at Columbia University (her MSE), and at Nova University (her Ed. D.).
She served at various levels of nursing at Fanny Allen and DeGoesbriand Hospitals and Jeanne Mance School of Nursing in Burlington, Vermont. From 1969-2000, her teaching was focused on nursing education at Vermont College and Norwich University where she taught for 31 years. During these years, Sister resided with the Sisters of Mercy in Montpelier and Burlington. In June 2000, after a long and distinguished career, Dr. Thomas was awarded Emerita Professor of Nursing by Norwich University. She was also active in a variety of Associations including the Vermont representative to the International Council of Nursing, a National Accreditation visitor to schools of Nursing, and consultant to schools of Nursing in Maine, Minnesota, Oregon and Ireland.
In 2013, Sister moved to Our Lady of Providence to join her RHSJ community.
