Lucille Blackburn Weds Clinton Richardson

RAGAN - Miss Lucille Blackburn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Blackburn of Wilcox, and Clinton Richardson, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Richardson of Fairbury, were united in marriage at 2:30 o'clock Sunday, Dec. 21 1952, at the Ragan Baptist Church. Rev. E. L. Mason of Lincoln, officiated at the double ring ceremony in the presence of 100 guests.

The church railing was covered with evergreen and holly rope. Pew markers were evergreen boughs tied with white ribbon and Christmas colored balls. Two tall baskets of white snapdragons and carnations were on either side of the altar. The holly was sent by Mrs. Ed Viren of Tacoma, Wash., aunt of the bride.

Mrs. Arlo Lippstreu of Ragan played the musical prelude and was accompanist for the soloist, Miss Donna Lippstreu of Holdrege, who sang "Through the Years" and "Because.: Mrs. Lippstreu also played the traditional wedding march.

The brides gown was of a white velvet bodice with long tapering sleeves, while the skirt was of white net over taffeta of ballerina length. She wore a seeded pearl tiarra (sic) with a lace edged illusion net veil. Her bouquet was of white carnations with red velvet leaves. Her only jewelry was a string of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. She was given in marriage by her father, Ray Blackburn.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Stanley Lippstreu of Hastings, Neb., sister of the bride. She wore a red velveteen bodice with red net over taffeta skirt identical to the brides. Her hat was of red velveteen and she carried a bouquet of white carnations.

The bridesmaid was Miss Harriett Young of Holdrege. Her gown was a mossgreen velveteen bodice with green net over taffeta skirt of ballerina length, and her hat was a green velveteen. Her bouquet was identical to the brlde's.

The best man was Keith Richardson of Fairbury, Neb., brother of the groom.

Ushers were Bill Blackburn U. S. N., Memphis, Tenn., brother of the bride, and Stanley Lippstreu of Hastings, Neb., brother-in-law of the bride.

The flower girl was Karen Gepford of Atlanta, Neb., and she was dressed in a gold velveteen bodice with ballerina length skirt of gold net over taffeta, identical to the brides, and she wore a gold velveteen hat. The ring bearer was Kenneth Lippstreu of Hastings, nephew of the bride. He was attired in a green corduroy jacket with gray trousers.

The bride's mother was attired in a navy blue crepe street length dress with winter white accessories. Her corsage was of white roses. The bridegroom's mother wore a black crepe street length dress with black accessories and a corsage of white roses.

The reception for one-hundred guests was in the church basement with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Huston as host and hostess. Mrs. Arlo Lippstreu furnished music during the reception. Mrs. Brooke Gepford of Atlanta served the wedding cake. Mrs. Ethel Jenkinson of Orleans and Mrs. Albert Frisell poured.

The table was lace covered and centered with a three tier wedding cake topped with a bride and groom enclosed in a heart shaped white lace circle with which satin bows and a white wedding bell suspended above the bride and groom decoration. White glow candles were on either side. The color scheme of white predominated on the serving table. Napkins were white inscribed Lucille-Clint, with a tiny gold color heart connecting the names.

The Individual cakes served were decorated in green and on them were the initials C/L In red. The individual Ice cream servings were centered with a green Christmas tree and topped with red trimming.

The bride's table was white covered, and centered with a beautiful arrangement of poinsettias and pine. White candles encircled with poinsettias and tied with colored ribbon bows were on either side. Nutcups were red and green with sliver handles and holly sparklets with place cards attached. Mrs. Jacob Uhrich made the decorations and decorated the table.

Mrs. Rodney Larson of Axtell, Neb., had charge of the guest book. The gift table attendants were Beverly Lueking and Mrs. Dwight Schliefect of Holdrege.

Mrs. E. L. Mason of Lincoln was in charge of those serving the brides table who were Maxine Carlson, Lois Young, Arlene Abramson and Norma Peterson, all of Holdrege.

The bride and groom took a short wedding trip south. The brides going-away costume was a red wool jersey dress with black accessories. Her corsage was of red carnations.

Mrs. Walter Lippstreu, was chairman of the kitchen committee and those assisting were Mrs. Will Knopf, Mrs. Art Roos and Mrs. Everett Sterner. Mrs. Mason, those serving the bride's table and those working in the kitchen wore organdy aprons with textile painting. They were given by the bride, and were made by her mother.

The bride graduated from the Ragan High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College at Kearney. The bridegroom is a graduate of the high school in Fairbury, and attended Junior College at Fairbury. At present the bride is a teacher in the school at Atlanta, and the bridegroom is an accountant at the Holdrege Motor Co. in Holdrege. The young couple will reside in Holdrege.

Clint Richardson, age 90 of Superior, passed away at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska.

Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior.
Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery

Clinton Wilson Richardson, the son of Walter and Minnie (Shoebotham) Richardson, was born on September 15, 1927 in Fairbury, Nebraska. He passed away on December 21, 2017 at the Perkins Pavilion at Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 90 years, 3 months, 6 days.

Clint was a Fairbury High School graduate and attended Fairbury Junior College before enlisting into the United States Navy. He served his country during World War II, and was honorably discharged in August of 1946. He returned to Fairbury, where he was employed at Sidles Auto Parts. On December 21, 1952, Clint was united in marriage to Lucille Blackburn at Ragan, Nebraska. This union was blessed with a son and daughter. Clint passed away on their 65th Wedding Anniversary.

Clint was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Eagles, Superior Country Club, and a 60-year member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge, serving as an officer in all the clubs over the years.

He enjoyed golf and bowling, and bowled in leagues for many years, attending many school programs and activities for his children and grandchildren. He loved to tell jokes and stories, and even dressed up as a woman for Halloween. He loved to entertain and was a jokester which kept everyone laughing. He loved life and his family.

Clint and Lucy were residents of the Kingswood Court in Superior and just recently moved to the Perkins Pavilion in Hastings.

Throughout his lifetime, Clint has lived in the communities of Fairbury, Holdrege, Kearney, Broken Bow, in Nebraska and Centerville, Iowa, before moving to Superior where he spent most of his life and recently in Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Keith Richardson and half-brother Don Schearon.

Survivors include his wife Lucille of Hastings, and his son James and wife Marsha of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina and daughter Susan Bradley and husband Damon of Naponee, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Erin, Sara, Rachel and Rebecca and four great grandchildren: Haille, Tristan, Chauncey and Jade. He is also survived by his sister Helen Minnick of Hopkins, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
