Sarah Jane Bean, 86, of Madisonville, KY passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville. She was born December 17, 1931 in Durant, MS to the late Leonard Oscar Smith and Edna Mae Wallace Smith. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Leonard "Daigo" Oscar Smith Jr. and George Smith, and four sisters, Jewel Rhodes, Katherine Payne, Martha "Mike" Lamb and Saphronia "Fronie" Maddern.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville. She worked as a registered nurse at the Western State Hospital. She was a life long care giver to those in need and is loved and appreciated by many.

She is survived by her husband, William R. "Jack" Bean; two sons, Thomas R. Bean of Madisonville and Jerry (Sally) Bean of Sturgis, MS; one sister, Barbara Fuller of Madisonville; one brother, Walter Smith of Madisonville; one nephew, Steve Sheppard; one niece, Shaelin Sheppard; and many more grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY. Entombment will be held at the cemetery.
