Nellie Woodruff Whitaker
  Nellie Woodruff Whitaker, our sweet loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away June 24, 1988.
  Born November 3, 1902 in Salt Lake City to Elias Smith and Nellie Davis Woodruff. Married Eugene Taylor Whitaker, June 20, 1925 in Salt Lake LDS Temple, by her uncle, President George Albert Smith. She was a great granddaughter of Wilford Woodruff. Active in all organizations of the LDS Church, beginning as a child of 10 as organist in the 14th ward Primary. Served in ward and stake Relief Society as teacher and Ward President, also taught in MIA and Primary. Served in ward choir as accompanist and in various other musical assignments including singing mothers' groups. Served as a visiting teacher for over 25 years.
  Survived by two sons, Eugene W., Cedar Ridge, Calif.; Ralph E., Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Wendell W. (Maurine) Jensen, Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; brother, Asahel Davis Woodruff, Salt Lake City; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Laurence and two sisters, Mildred W. Erickson, and Margaret W. Clarke.
  Funeral services, Tuesday, June 28, 1988 at 12 noon in the Russon Brothers Mortuary Chapel, 255 South 2nd E. Friends may call Monday, 7-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
