Bertilla Wagner, age 94, of Waunakee passed away on Monday, Dec 18, 2017 at New Perspective in Sun Prairie. She now joins her husband Joe, and our Lord in heaven for Christmas. Bertilla was born in Waunakee on March 28, 1923 to Mathias and Susan (Maerz) Maier.

She was the eldest of 14. She married Joseph Wagner on September 24, 1946, and together with their children built a successful dairy farm. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Some of her most precious moments were found spending time on the family farm, where wonderful memories were made. Faith, family and friends were most important to her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Ron(Barb), Jim (Kris), Steve (Kathy), Carol (Ken) Dohm, Duane, Joe Jr (Karen), Debbie (Randy) Carpenter; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sisters Evelyn Pate and Marlene Mack; her brothers Ralph and Kenny (Connie) Maier; her sisters-in-law Roscile, Ruthie, Doris and Bev Maier, and her brother-in-law Wayne Moore.

She was preceded in death by her caring husband Joe; her parents; her brothers Wilbert, Donald, Vincent, Andrew, Earl, James, Bernard, and Joseph Maier; her sister Delores Moore; and brothers-in-law Sam Pate and Ken Mack.

Funeral services will be held on Sat. Dec 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St. Waunakee. Msgr James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Sat from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

Bertilla's family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for their compassion and wonderful care.

"It is so difficult to fully express all of the qualities that made you who you were. No matter where you were, or who you met, your infectious positivity and trademark smile touched so many and made a significant, lasting impact on their lives."

"You loved us, inspired us, and made us smile...for that and so much more...thank you! We love you and will miss you!"
