Eva Louise Canter Parker, 98, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at Jenkins Care Community in Jackson.
She was born Dec. 2, 1917 in Olive Furnace, Lawrence County, Ohio, daughter of the late Walter Douglas and Nellie Mae Lee Canter. Eva was the widow of the late Carl E. Parker, who passed away July 26, 1996.
Eva was a merchandise buyer for the former Chambers Department Store, in Wellston. She was a member of the McArthur Free Will Baptist Church where she was also the former President of the McArthur Free Will Baptist Church Women's Auxiliary. Eva graduated from Wellston High School in 1936.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas William (Ivoni) Parker of Gastonia, North Carolina and David Andrew (Sharon) Parker of Kansas City, Missouri; stepdaughters, Barbara Waybright of Columbus and Joyce Schablin of Grove City, Ohio; grandchildren, Clarissa Grace Parker and Benjamin Grant Parker; step grandchildren, Matthew, Giovana, Martin, Deanne, Dana, Blaine, Brad and Angela, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eva was preceded in death by her sister, Elda Mae Canter; brother, Walter Canter and half sister Thelma Newman.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 in the McArthur Free Will Baptist Church, 408 W. Main St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Henderson, Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. and Rev. Jim Taylor officiating.
Interment will be in Alexander Cemetery, Athens County. Friends may call at the McArthur Free Will Baptist Church on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
