James Allen Ragan, 75, died Sunday morning at his home in Greeneville

He was a farmer, truck driver, and “jack of all trades”. He had many special friends and was loved by all that knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Bessie Ragan; five children and their spouses: Gwen McKinney, Jamie and Troy Griffith, Kathy and Paul Gregg, Shirley and Robert Wilson, Jennifer and Eddie Saults, David and Stormy Ragan; 29 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews; special friends: Kelvin Ivey, Tony McKinney, Scott Long, Scott Liner, Kenny Brown, Brandy Lane, Lynn Malone, Don Malone, Anthony Quillen, Bill Quillen, Gary and Linda Carter, and Tommy Gross.

He was preceded in death by one daughter: Candice Ivey; parents: Ola Dean and Willie Fox; several brothers and nephews; special brother-in-law: Billy Ray Franklin.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Franklin, Jr., Keith Ragan, Jeremiah Benton, Timmy Talley, Scott Liner, and Kenny Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Franklin, Scottie Gregg, Eddie Saults, and Derek Gregg.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Doughty-Stevens at 10 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to River Hill Cemetery for the 10:30 a.m. graveside service.The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
